How LinkedIn Is Improving the Feed to Show More Relevant, Authentic Professional Content
What’s changing in the LinkedIn Feed and why it matters
Smarter content ranking using Generative Recommenders and LLMs: LinkedIn is rolling out more advanced models that better understand what posts are about and how members’ interests change over time. This helps the Feed be more relevant, personalized, and timely.
Action against automated comments and inauthentic engagement: We’re working to make egagement pods ineffective and curb comment automation or third party tools that create fake conversations, so real people and real perspectives stand out.
Less generic content and engagement bait: We’re reducing recycled and click‑driven posts to make the Feed feel more useful. We want the Feed to be relevant to your interests, not a popularity contest.
Better personalization for new members from day one: We’re testing an Interest Picker during sign‑up so new members can tell us what they care about and see relevant content right away.
Smarter Content Ranking with Generative Recommenders and LLMs
We’re upgrading how the Feed ranks content using larger sequence models, known as Generative Recommenders, augmented with large language models (LLMs). These systems better understand what a post is actually about and how your professional interests evolve.
They look at signals you choose to share, like your industry, skills, experience, and geography, alongside how you engage with content over time. The result: posts that better reflect what matters to you, whether they come from your network or professionals you haven’t met yet.
Supporting Authentic Conversations on LinkedIn
People come to LinkedIn to hear from real professionals, not automated scripts and content. That’s why we take action to stop behaviors that promote inauthentic engagement, including comment automation, engagement pods, and unauthorized third‑party tools.
This isn’t about limiting reach or discouraging participation. It’s about making sure that when you engage with a post, you’re interacting with a real person and a real point of view.
Showing Less Engagement Bait and Recycled Content
We’re improving our systems to reduce repetitive, low‑substance posts and engagement bait, such as “comment to agree” prompts or videos that don’t match the text.
You’ll see more posts that offer genuine insight, actionable ideas, and thoughtful perspectives and fewer that are designed purely to game distribution.
Helping New Members Discover Relevant Content Faster
The Feed has traditionally relied on signals like a complete profile and engagement, which new members don’t yet have, to personalize the experience. To change that, we’re testing an Interest Picker during sign‑up.
New members can select topics like “Leadership,” “Job Search Skills,” or “Career Growth,” helping us personalize their Feed from day one, whether they’re a recent graduate or switching careers.
All of these updates are grounded in a single goal: making LinkedIn the most trusted place for professional, authentic conversations. These changes are already rolling out, and we’ll continue testing, learning, and sharing updates as the Feed evolves.
