Easily find volunteer opportunities that match your interests and skills on LinkedIn

With 75% of LinkedIn members expressing interest in volunteering, we are rolling out a new feature, Open to Volunteer. This tool makes it easier for members* to find open volunteering opportunities with nonprofit organizations that match their skills and interests. With the skills required to do our jobs set to change by nearly 70% by 2030, volunteering not only provides a unique way to develop in-demand skills, such as communication and empathy, it fosters a greater sense of purpose and inspires connection within our communities.

Members who are interested in volunteering can select the volunteer option from the “Open to” drop down menu under their profile picture. From there, they can enter the causes they support, their skills and preferences, such as their location and if they’d like to volunteer in person or virtually.

Once complete, details about the member’s volunteer interests will be displayed in the top section of their profile. They will also see an option to share a post, with their network expressing their interest in volunteering.

Through our work with volunteer aggregators in the U.S., U.K., Ireland and more, we share hundreds of thousands of volunteer opportunities on LinkedIn, spanning a wide variety of causes from education to economic empowerment and disaster relief to social services. These volunteer engagements focus on skills-based projects, mentorship opportunities and board service for a nonprofit organization.

Once Open to Volunteer is selected, we can more surface the most relevant volunteer opportunities for members in search based on their preferences. Members can also elect to receive alerts directly for opportunities that may be a fit for them.
