LinkedIn Appoints New Managing Directors for EMEA and APAC Regions
DUBLIN/SINGAPORE, November 4, 2015 – LinkedIn Corporation (NYSE: LNKD), the world's largest professional network on the Internet with over 400 million members worldwide has appointed John Herlihy as a Managing Director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region. In this role, Herlihy will lead LinkedIn’s business efforts in EMEA, overseeing the company’s strategic direction while continuing to drive business and member growth. LinkedIn also appointed Olivier Legrand as its Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region, effective January 1, 2016. With this new appointment, Legrand will have a dual role, continuing to serve as Head of Marketing Solutions for LinkedIn in the region.
John Herlihy joins LinkedIn having spent the last decade at Google, where he was VP of SMB Sales and Head of Google Ireland. In that time, John grew and led Google’s EMEA online sales and operations from 50 to over 2,500 talented people, working with customers across over 100 markets, from its Dublin headquarters. Prior to that John held several leadership positions at leading tech companies both in Europe and the United States. He is an active non-executive director of a number of private and public companies, primarily in finance, biotech, software and agri-food sectors.
Herlihy will take over from Ariel Eckstein who has been LinkedIn’s Managing Director in EMEA for the past four years. Eckstein recently took on a global leadership role at LinkedIn, heading up a worldwide team that looks after the needs of the company’s largest customers.
Singapore-based Legrand, who joined LinkedIn in 2012 to drive the Marketing Solutions business in the Asia-Pacific region, is a senior executive with more than a decade of leadership, marketing and business development experience in the region. Before joining LinkedIn, he was General Manager of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network for Asia. Legrand will succeed Hari Krishnan, who has been Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region since January 2013. Krishnan oversaw a business in the region that continues to post healthy growth, including a member base that more than doubled to 78+ million (as at Q3 2015) in less than three years. This includes 33+ million in India, 7+ million in Australia and 15+ million in S.E. Asia.
Krishnan, LinkedIn’s first employee in Asia will be leaving after six years at the company, during which he served as Country Manager for India (November 2009 – December 2012) before becoming the Managing Director for Asia-Pacific. He will be joining PropertyGuru Group as its President and Chief Business Officer.
