LinkedIn Crosses 15 Million Members in Brazil

Sao Paulo, Brazil – October 23, 2013 – LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network on the Internet, today announced it has surpassed the 15 million member milestone in Brazil; in October 2012 there were 10 million Brazilian professionals connected to the network. Brazil is LinkedIn’s third largest market in terms of members, behind the United States and India.

The announcement was made today, during LinkedIn Media Day; the event brought together media and communication agencies in Sao Paulo to review milestones from the year, discuss opportunities and present the research highlighted in: The Social Bridge to the IT Committee in Brazil.

LinkedIn was founded in the US in 2003. It began to gain popularity in Brazil in April 2010, after it launched its Portuguese. At the time, LinkedIn had around 1 million members in Brazil. Since then, the growth in the country has accelerated, both in terms of membership and customers.

“All our actions are based on the member experience, because we believe that our success depends on the trust they place in us. This is one of our core values, and we call it ‘members first’. We believe the positive response that LinkedIn has had in Brazil is related to this mutual respect,” said Osvaldo Barbosa de Oliveira, General Manager, LinkedIn Brazil.

LinkedIn’s broad content offering has also contributed to the increasing member base. Today, more than 300 influencers from various industries write periodically on the site and more than 1.5 million unique publishers share content on the LinkedIn platform. There are more than 3 million companies with Company Pages and LinkedIn members share insights and knowledge in more than 2.1 million LinkedIn Groups.
