LinkedIn opens engineering operations in India

Mumbai and Bengaluru, India – November 15, 2011 – LinkedIn (NYSE:LNKD), the world’s largest professional network with more than 135 million members globally, of which over 12 million are from India, today opened its Technology Centre in Bengaluru. This will be LinkedIn’s first such office outside of North America. LinkedIn has appointed Ganesh Krishnan to lead the company’s engineering operations in India. LinkedIn is seeking to hire for infrastructure engineering and operations roles like software engineers, operations engineers, data warehouse engineers, network engineers and data base administrators. Hiring for all the positions will be done through LinkedIn.com.

Before moving to India, Ganesh was based at the LinkedIn headquarters in Mountain View, California. He joined LinkedIn from Yahoo! Inc., where he was Vice President and CISO, leading global security including product development, operations and IT security. With more than 13 years of experience, Ganesh’s expertise lies in building security infrastructure at scale, product, web and information security.

Located at the Bagmane Tech Park in Bengaluru, the LinkedIn Technology Centre will be the company’s fourth office in the country after its India headquarters in Mumbai and sales offices located in Gurgaon and Bengaluru. LinkedIn started its India operations in 2009 and has built teams for its Marketing Solutions, Corporate Solutions and Marketing verticals. LinkedIn recently opened its Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore.
