LinkedIn Appoints Jonathan Lister as Canadian Country Manager
Mountain View, Calif. and Toronto -- June 2, 2010 -- LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network with more than 70 million members globally and more than two million Canadian members, today made an important step in its international expansion with the appointment of Jonathan Lister as its country manager in Canada.
In this new role, Lister will help establish LinkedIn's first Canadian office and drive LinkedIn's vision to connect the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful. Lister will increase the awareness and adoption of LinkedIn in Canada with a focus on user engagement, strategic partnerships, marketing and general operations. Lister will also grow LinkedIn's three lines of revenue: user subscriptions, advertising sales and enterprise software licensing. LinkedIn's Canadian office will be based in Toronto.

Prior to LinkedIn, Lister was most recently the country manager at Google Canada. In that role he executed the business strategy and vision for Google Canada. He also directly managed and grew Google Canada's advertising revenue while also being indirectly responsible for all other revenue, partnerships, marketing and public relations in Canada.
Prior to Google, Lister held several executive positions at AOL. He was the chief operating officer and senior vice president of operations at AOL Europe. While there, he was responsible for leading a team of one hundred people across four countries. Lister's team drove monetization and innovation in search, products, publishing and marketing across the region. Prior to that position, Lister was the chief executive officer and senior vice president of AOL Canada where he oversaw the strategic direction and management of the company. As the head of AOL Canada, he built on the company vision of providing Internet content, products, services and initiatives that met the needs of Canadian consumers and the advertising community.
Lister sits on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Canada. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and a bachelor's degree in literature from the University of Toronto.
